Career Connections

Career Connections guides are developed to assist you in planning your academic career to prepare you for entry into your chosen career field. Selected Career Connections guides are listed below; visit the Career Center's Career Connections site for a complete list of available resources.

  • Foreign service
"Foreign Service as a branch of the U.S. Department of State pursues diverse U.S. foreign policy objectives through Foreign Service Officers, who conduct relations with foreign governments and international organizations. Foreign Service Officers represent the U.S. government abroad and in international organizations, analyze and update political and economic developments in their host country, promote U.S. trade and commercial interests abroad, administer U.S. diplomatic and consular posts abroad, help and protect U.S. citizens abroad, provide consular services to foreign nationals, and disseminate information about the U.S."

  • International Education
"If you like to meet new people, try new things, learn about the world, and help people understand difference, then you are probably a very good candidate for a career in International Education. This booklet will cover three of the most popular positions in International Education: International Student Admissions Counselor, Study Abroad Advisor, and International Student Immigration Advisor."

  • Public Policy
"Public policy encompasses the analysis and management of public problems. At its most simple this means seeking to understand and resolve the problems that arise when people form societies. At its most complex this means trying to find a balance between core social values (such as liberty or equality), environmental concerns, and political constraints."
